Paul was spotted by John Still playing in the Essex Intermediate league with White Ensign where he scored 96 goals in two years.
He had a two-week trial at Southend United but before they could offer him any further trials he opted to sign a contract with Dagenham & Redbridge.
Since then Paul has found goal scoring no problem and has finished as top scorer for the past four seasons. He won the Conference golden boot in 2007 and won an England semi-pro cap in February 2007, scoring on his debut in Northern Ireland.
He has picked up more than his fair share of injuries over the past few seasons including a broken leg, a cracked bone in his leg, a broken nose, a cartilage injury and also losta couple of teeth.
After a number of transfer bids, Paul decided to commit himself to the Club by signing a three year deal in August 2009 and celebrated by scoring four times in the game against Shrewsbury. He scored in all three play-off matches last season including the opening goal in the final at Wembley.
