Aldershot Town preview
If there is one team that Daggers want to take revenge from, it's tonight's hosts Aldershot, who despite the recent downturn in form by John Still's side, are still the side who administered Daggers heaviest defeat of the season so far.
That was back in November at Victoria Road, where the Hampshire side, frankly surprised everyone and possibly even themselves, by the ease with which they became only the second team to win on the Daggers' home patch this season, 5-2.
It was a night when the Shots played like title contenders and was only new manager Kevin Dillon's third game in charge.
He has since had the Hants team on the fringes of the play-off chase in only their second season back in the Football League.
Aldershot followed Daggers into the Football League by winning the Blue Square Premier the following season after Daggers achieved the feat.
That was under former Republic of Ireland and Queens Park Rangers boss Gary Waddock, who also steered them through a mixed first season back in League football.
They began League life in excellent fashion last season and were pressing towards the top of the pile, being as high as fourth at one stage.
But once Daggers took the Shots' unbeaten home record at their own Recreation Ground in the final game of 2007, the Hampshire team's season began to unravel and a dreadful start to 2008 saw them plummeting towards the foot of the table.
Boss Waddock was astute enough to arrest the slide sufficiently to finish their first season back in 15th spot.
He was also in charge until October of this campaign, before being tempted away to League 1 Wycombe Wanderers to try and mastermind their recovery from a poor start. That hasn't happened and the Chairboys are still in deep relegation trouble with two-thirds of the season gone.
Ex-Southampton stalwart Jason Dodd was initially drafted in as Waddock's caretaker replacement, but after three games in charge, in which the Shots didn't win, he opted instead to take an Academy role with Southampton, where he had spent almost all his career.
Enter Kevin Dillon, ex-Birmingham and Portsmouth midfielder and assistant to both Alan Pardew and Steve Coppell during Reading's rise to the Premier League. Coppell's departure to the Madjeski Stadium also signalled the end of Dillon's association with a club he also played for late in his career.
It was a first managerial post and it has gone moderately well, with Dillon being assisted by fellow north-easterner Gary Owers, once of Sunderland and Bristol City.
Whatever happens in the last third of the season, Aldershot should finish in a comfortable position and improve on last season's final position.
They go into the game in a bit of a slump, like Daggers. Only one of the last six games has been won, an impressive 3-0 success away at in-form Northampton. But it is their away form that is letting the Shots down with recent defeats at Accrington, 2-1, a 3-0 loss at Barnet, whom they beat 4-0 at home only six weeks earlier and a 2-0 reverse at Hereford. Last Saturday they recovered some form, holding ambitious Notts County 1-1 at the Recreation Ground.
Striker Marvin Morgan is the only Shots player in double figures this season with 10 goals to his credit, while Scott Donnelly has supplied eight from midfield.
Daggers only change may be the restoration of Paul Benson to the line-up after he missed the Rochdale trip with a stomach ailment, as the side did much better than a final 3-1 defeat suggests.
One decision that has to be made is whether Graeme Montgomery retains his place on the left of midfield, or whether emergency striker Jon Nurse switches to the left flank.
Lincolnshire official Trevor Kettle takes charge of a game involving Daggers for the first time this season.
