Daggers Make Signing

Posted on: Fri 10 Sep 2010

Dagenham & Redbridge FC are pleased to announce the signing of Phil Ifil on a one-year contract.

Phil, brother of Aberdeen centre-back Jerel, began his career at Tottenham Hotspur where he worked his way through the ranks to the first team. He made his debut against Liverpool on the first day of the 2004/5 season with his last Premier League appearance in April 2007 against Wigan Athletic. Phil had a six month loan spell at Millwall and a three month loan spell at Southampton whilst at White hart Lane. He also represented England Under-20 at the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.

In January 2008 he was transferred from Tottenham to Colchester United for an undisclosed six figure fee. The full-back made 40 appearances for the Weston Homes Community Stadium side in two years, scoring his first professional goal in December 2009 against Brighton. He left Colchester at the end of last season after new boss John Ward decided not to offer him a new deal.

Phil has impressed manager John Still in the midweek friendlies he's played for the Daggers and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's trip to AFC Bournemouth. He will wear the number 12 shirt.
