Daggers end pre season with a win

Posted on: Fri 06 Aug 2010

The Daggers won their final pre season friendly 3-1 at Billericay Town with former Town star Danny J Green scoring twice.

The Billericay line up featured four former Daggers with Adam Flanagan captaining the Ryman League side and Danny Charge starting the game up front. Later in the game Tony Boot came on for the New Lodge side as did Greg Oates.

The Daggers had the better of the opening exchanges and after just seven minutes Phil Walsh made Billericay keeper Billy Lumbley push the ball round the post. From the resulting corner Damian Scannell put the ball into the side netting. A Sanches Ming free kick was narrowly headed wide by Luke Wilkinson as the vistors searched for the opening goal. They didn't have to wait much longer as with their next attack on 25 minutes they scored the opener. Phil Walsh's shot was blocked and from the follow up Sanches Ming blasted home. Four minutes later Scannell provided an inch perfect cross which Walsh headed into the arms of  Lumbley. Billericay were thwarted on many occasions in the first half by the Daggers offside trap although they nearly scored when Wilkinson headed back to Dave Hogan who had called and was standing behind the defender but fortunately Town were unable to capitalise. Scannell was put through down the left by Tommy Tejan-Sie just before the interval and the former Southend star rifled a shot against the post. From the rebound Danny J Green's shot was cleared off the line by Micky Haswell.

The second half continued to see the Daggers attack early on. Walsh again tested Lumbley then they doubled their lead. Scannell was brought down inside the penalty area on 58 minutes by Haswell and the referee, Mr Kaye awarded a penalty. Danny J Green took the spot kick and put it to the left, sending the goal keeper the wrong way. The home side attacked more in the second half and rallied after Boot was introduced into the action. On 79 minutes the former Dagger pulled a goal back for the home side when he pounced in the area to stab the ball home. He then went close bringing a fine save from Hogan. Any hope of a draw was killed off in the last minute when Louis Dennis crossed to the far post and Danny J Green finished to make it 3-1.
