Daggers win at Wealdstone
The Daggers traveled to St George's Stadium on Monday to face hosts Wealdstone in a Friendly fixture arranged as part of the deal which brought Graeme Montgomery to the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham Stadium in January 2009. Having face Wealdstone at Vicarage Road and Edgware in the past, this was the first visit for the Daggers to the former home of Ruislip Manor FC.
In a fairly physical game, the Daggers almost took the lead after 15 minutes. Wealdstone goalkeeper Shane McWeeney fouled Gavin Tomlin just outside the area and Danny Green drove the free kick at goal only for the former Tranmere Rovers and QPR stopper to push the ball round the post.
The visitors finally broke the deadlock in the 34th minute through Gavin Tomlin. A quick free kick was played by Peter Gain to Damien McCrory down the left and his cross was perfectly weighted for the former Yeovil striker to head past McWeeney.
Two minutes before the interval and it was Tomlin again who doubled the visitors advantage. He slotted the ball into the net at the second attempt from close range after McWeeney had parried his initial shot back into his path.
Former Wealdstone old boy Montgomery was brought on at half time and made an immediate impact. A long range left-footed effort was only parried by McSweeney and Josh Scott tucked away the rebound.
The game was one way for a large period of the second half and the Daggers twice went close to adding a fourth. On 78 minutes Josh Scott cycle kicked against the cross bar after the goalkeeper spilled a cross from Montgomery under pressure from Scott. Then Tejan-Sie clipped the top of the bar from distance with a shot.
The home side scored a consolation goal four minutes from time when Greg Ngoyi scored at the near post from a cross from the left.
