Ladies out of the cup

Posted on: Wed 17 Mar 2010

The Daggers crashed out of the Russell Cup Third Round after a 0-2 defeat against Panthers at Fairlop Oak. The game was delayed at start due to the head of all the league referees wanted to inspect all the players identity cards, just before kick off.

After this disruption the game got under way and it was quite clear this was going to be a physical game as there was some crunching tackles made by the Panthers players. Despite this the game was quite even for 35 minutes until Panthers broke through the middle when they managed to get past Natalie Wallis for the first time and shot to the top right corner to take the lead. The Daggers raised there game for the remaining half and Terri Briggs had two shots saved by the Panthers goalkeeper.

In the second half the hosts were again coming close with Sarah Quinn and Sam Tyler both having efforts blocked then in midfield Edel Phillips was flattened by a tackle and could not continue Michelle Sutton was replaced, but again the Panthers lobbed our midfield and one-on-one with our goalkeeper, Tracy Seaton and they made it 2-0 to the visitors.

The Daggers attacked the Panthers half for the remaining 20 minutes but the Daggers could not get any reward.
