Thurgood Goes Under the Knife

Posted on: Wed 16 Dec 2009

John Still has an enormous headache and it's not caused by too much Christmas spirit. The Daggers manager has learnt the news that influential midfielder Stuart Thurgood will be out of action for a considerable period.

The former Gillingham player saw a specialist last Friday and the results were received yesterday. His knee has two cartilage problems, one the inside, the other the back. Stuart has gone under the surgeon's knife today and both are being operated on.

The inside cartilage is being removed whilst the back cartilage is being repaired. For a repair the recovery time can be three months if all goes well.

It's a devastating blow to the Daggers with Stuart playing a starring role in the Daggers early season rise to the Promotion play off places. On-loan Adam Miller has deputised for the past three weeks and will continue to do so for another month whilst John Still weighs up his options.
