The Ladies reserves went through to the Third Round of the Russell Cup after a 3-1 success against Clapham Ladies at Fairlop Oak.
The home side started attacking right from the kick off and had three consecutive corners. Moments later Edel Philips broke down the right wing after running onto a long diagonal cross from Kim Mulgrew. Philips hit a ball first time at the goal and the goalkeeper made a fine diving save but dropped the ball and Terri Briggs, was there to tap the ball home for the lead.
The second half was all Dagenham & Redbridge and stand in goalkeeper Jade Brooker only had one save to make apart from the final minute when Clapham attacked. A goal mouth scramble started and Jade saved a shot only to be knocked in by one of the Clapham forward, the ref immediately blew the whistle, for extra time.
Game was quite even the first half of extra time with two minutes left the Daggers broke down the right wing again and Tania Holley put a perfect cross which was headed in by Sarah Gunn. In the final minutes of extra time Terri Briggs hit her second goal and sealed the game for Daggers.
