A fine opening performance by the Daggers youngsters in their first Puma Youth Alliance game under the tutelage of new Academy coach Wayne Burnett. The young Daggers struck back from falling behind to a 19th minute goal, to level matters just three minutes later when they capitalised on a Millwall own goal.

Nevertheless, the South Londoners got back on the ascendancy before the interval and restored their lead a minute from the break, to turn around 2-1 ahead. But in the second-half there was really only one side in it.

Daggers youngsters were on terms almost immediately when Steve Demetriou, younger brother of Leyton Orient midfielder Jason, crashed in the equaliser. The young Daggers took the lead for the first time with a well-worked goal finished by Tony Martin for a 3-2 lead and doubled their advantage when Jay Nash was on the end of a slick move for 4-2.

The scoring was completed in the dying seconds of the game, when Daggers were awarded a penalty, expertly put away by Alfie Wren for a highly satisfying opening league win.
