John Still speaking about the victory at Crewe:

"I was confident of winning here, but I was confident of our team. I knew we would be organised and would compete against a big and physically strong Crewe side.

"We are a fit side and have enjoyed a good pre-season and I know we have brought in some decent players over the summer to replace those we have lost.

"Our back four here I felt was outstanding and the midfield quartet worked their socks off.

"Jon Nurse scored a spectacular goal, the sort he scores all the time in training, but most importantly he confirms to the team ethic and works very hard. At this point in time, I've no idea how serious the injury is he sustained late on.

"Benno's goal just shows what he can do. It wasn't an easy goal to take, but he stayed on his feet and finished in true Benno style.

"I've not doubt that the side is on the right lines for another good campaign.''

Paul Benson on his goal:

"Nursey's was a spectacular goal, mine was just a standard finish and I was very pleased to open the season with a goal in the first match.

"I don't score spectacular goals, but scramble in and shank in a few, so it was nice to get off the mark.

"We had to work very hard as a team against a physical Crewe team and I don't think anyone here today would think that we didn't deserve this win.''

Scott Doe on his league debut:

"I waited a long time for this. Like everyone I've had my ups and downs. It didn't happen for me when I was at Swindon and things were quite bleak at times last season at Weymouth, but I knew if given my chance I'd do my very best.

"Everyone seems to think I had a good game, so I'm pleased. Their goal did take a slight deflection off me, but it was a good strike.

"The spirit of the lads at this club has really impressed me. The management have worked with the defence throughout the close season and with a display like today, it's really paid off.''
