Dagenham & Redbridge FC are pleased to announce the signing of Will Antwi. Will has played in two of the Daggers pre season matches, impressing enough for John Still to make him his fifth summer signing. He joins on a two year contract and will be squad number 25.
The commanding centre back started his career at Crystal Palace as a trainee moving through the ranks to a professional at Selhurst Park. He made seven first team appearances for the Eagles and also had a loan spell at Swedish side Ljungskile SK. Whilst with the South London side he made an International appearance for Ghana against Nigeria in May 2003.
In January 2004 Will joined Nationwide Conference Aldershot Town and helped the side reach the Play Off final, scoring the winning penalty kick in the semi final victory over Hereford United.
He went on to make over 50 appearances for the Shots and was snapped up by Wycombe Wanderers at the end of his 18 month contract at the recreation ground. Unfortunately he didn't make his debut for the Chairboys until the last month of the season after a groin injury but kept his place in the side for the play off semi final games with Cheltenham.
He wore the Captains armband on occasions and was made vice-captain for Wycombe where he went on to make 55 appearances. Following his recovery from a broken toe sustained against Birmingham City in the Carling Cup at the start of last season he spent a month on loan at Northwich Victoria where he made five appearances before being released at the end of the season.
