Two wins from two and in that fact alone, Daggers' second run-out of the summer must be deemed satisfactory.

Boss John Still took a strongish side to Broughnine Road last night that included a number of new close season signings and Will Antwi, the former Crystal Palace, Aldershot and Wycombe central defender, who is currently trialling with the club as a possible replacement for the departed Magnus Okounghae.

In truth, Antwi and skipper Mark Arber were rarely troubled by a Boreham Wood attack that had little teeth and Tony Roberts was only called to make one decent save in 90 minutes, going down low to snatch up a Sonner shot, just past the hour mark.

The Herts hosts had the first two decent efforts of the game, Lee Allinson, son of the Wood manager Ian, the ex-Arsenal player, flashed a 25th minute shot over the bar and then clever winger Watters put over a cross that home forward Richards just failed to get a touch to.

Danny Green, Daggers' new winger from Bishops Stortford and a decent Sam Saunders 'lookalike' replacement, skinned home full-back Wordsworth, but saw Dave Hogan, helping out the home team because their goalkeeper Tony Tucker had damaged a hand, pull off a smart save.

Manager Still changed his full-backs on the half-hour, replacing Scott Griffiths and new signing Abu Ogogo with Scott Doe and Henry Eminki, a triallist from Kingsbury Tigers of the Spartan/South Midlands League.

Eminki immediately made his presence felt with a excellent, powerful tackle to prevent a Boreham Wood shooting opportunity.

Graeme Montgomery, given the chance to claim the left-wing berth after Matt Ritchie's return to Portsmouth, volleyed just wide from a long cross by Green and Antwi got on the end of a Montgomery corner, only to see home full-back Stevens get the goalbound header off the line.

That was a minute from the interval and it proved only a temporary reprieve. In the very next attack, Wood failed to clear their lines and Wesley Thomas drove a low shot through a crowded area into the bottom corner, with Hogan clearly unsighted.

Thomas began the second-half with a smart snapshot that just went wide, but Wood had their best attempt to equalise cleared off the line by Green, after a Sonner header had got past Roberts.

That proved the end of the serious action, apart from one fine free-kick from Sol Taiwo, as the final half-hour was spent with both sides making a number of changes, Daggers giving experienced midfield signing Stuart Thurgood the last 20 minutes.
