An inexperienced Daggers XI were defeated 0-3 at Mill Field on Wednesday night. The Daggers included Jon Nurse and gave a second outing to trialist Glen Poole but no other players in the side had started a competitive match for the Club before.

It was two former Daggers academy players involved in the opening goal for the home side on eight minutes. Martin Tuohy's shot was saved by Chris Lewington and Ryan Imbert headed the ball into the net despite protests from the Daggers keeper who felt he was impeded.

Jon Nurse almost equalised when a cross came back off the far post but that was to be the nearest the visitors came to scoring.

Six minutes into the second half an unmarked Piers Wickson blasted the ball home from the edge of the area.

The goalscoring was complete on 59 minutes when Aveley scored their third from the penalty spot. Ellie Kayembe was adjudge to have been fouled in the area by Bacchus and the same player sent Lewington the wrong way from the resulting spot kick.
