Goalkeeper Tony Roberts has signed a new one-year deal with Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club. The contract also includes a further one-year option should the Club wish to take it up.
The 39-year old former Wales International has been in superb form since returning to Football League action two years ago and was the Supporters club's 2007/8 player of the year. He was almost an ever-present last season until cracked ribs sustained at Gillingham on Easter Monday forced him to miss three of the final four matches. Robbo is the Club's record appearance holder with over 400 competitive games played to date.
Tony originally joined the Club during the 2000 Close season having been coaching in the USA. He began his career as a trainee at QPR and played 122 League games in his eleven years at Loftus Road. A season at the New Den with Millwall was played before a finger injury forced his to accept an insurance payout and move into the Semi-pro game with St Albans City for six months in 1999. Whilst in the States Tony came across a splint which fitted on his finger and allowed him to continue playing.
Tony is also the goalkeeping coach to the youth keepers at Arsenal FC.
