FA Youth Cup match report
The Daggers suffered a disappointing evening in South East London where they conceded 5 goals in a 23 minute first half spell at the New Den.
Millwall took the lead on 13 minutes when Mason scored just inside the box. 5 minutes later a long ball from Read was picked up by the very impressive Mason to score his 2nd of the night. On 21 minutes Beckles struck home from the edge of the area with a thumping shot in to the roof of the net. On 28 minutes Reid was again the supplier passing 20 yards to Marquis, who scored just inside the box.
Just nine minutes before the break Millwall made it five goals following a corner, Ooche headed home. The Daggers were pleased to hear the half time whistle after being camped in thier own half throughout the first period.
The reds came out second half a much determined side and on 66 minutes substitute Lee Wootton had first effort of the night, shooting just wide. Millwall could have made it six nil on 68 minutes but French shot into the side netting.
With six minutes remaining Daggers were rewarded for there efforts. Alfie Wren's left footed freekick was well headed into the net by Sonny Adams.
Dagenham & Redbridge continued to push and Bourne was just over with five minutes to go. In the final minutes of the game Mason Durrell was called upon to 2 good saves.
Millwall go on to play Sheffield Wednesday in Round 3. The Academy side don't now play until they entertain Leyton Orient on 29th November.
After the game Robbie Garvey commented on the evening.
"Millwall were a strong side, but we gave away sloppy goals. Credit to the boys in the second half after going in to the break 5 down"
