The Daggers scored a notable win over second placed Bournemouth - their first victory in a month.

They made one change to the side that lost to Rotherham in midweek, with Graeme Montgomery coming into the side in place of Jon Nurse, who dropped to the bench as they looked to end a run of four successive defeats. It was Montgomery's first League outing this season.

Bournemouth had the first effort of the game when captain Jason Pearce rose to a free-kick but headed straight at Tony Roberts.

Referee Langford issued a yellow card to Abu Ogogo in 13 minutes for a hefty challenge on McQuoid. The same official had sent the Daggers right-back off at around the same stage of Daggers' visit to Macclesfield in October, so the young Daggers full-back had to be careful with his future actions.

The Cherries' Marvin Bartley became the game's second booking, cautioned for a blatant bodycheck on Danny Green as the winger made a good run past two defenders.

Montgomery made a thrilling run knocking it past the veteran Lee Bradbury and outpacing him but when his cross reached Paul Benson the striker couldn't steer his header goalward.

Bournemouth full-back Rhoys Wiggins also made a strong run down the left and from his dangerous cross Daggers new boy Damien McCrory turned it behind. From the resulting corner, Bournemouth top scorer Brett Pitman volleyed just over the top.

Skipper Mark Arber put a misdirected headed back pass into the path of Pitman trying to find Roberts, but Scott Doe saved the day for Daggers with a timely interception.

Then in 39 minutes Daggers were awardeda penalty, when Peter Gain latched onto a flick from Josh Scott and went down under challenge from Steve Fletcher. Referee Langford awarded the spot-kick despite heated protests from the visiting players. Mark ARBER rammed in the spot-kick, sending keeper Jalal the wrong way, for the sides' first goal in four games.

Daggers began the second-half with a raid by Green that rebounded back off keeper Jalal to Scott but he pulled his shot badly wide.

Scott then curved a fine pass out to Montgomery who drove a strong half-volley across the face of goal but about five yards wide

Doe cleared a corner to find Montgomery who put a glorious ball down the middle for Gain who slid the best opening of the game wide as he raced into the area.

Bournemouth responded with a free-kick that was flicked on by the giant Steve Fletcher, but Roberts made a good save from Bradbury's drive.

Moments later the ball was knocked down in the Bournemouth area for Benson to hit a ferocious drive against the crossbar, the ball rebounded out to Montgomery whose goalbound header was knocked off the line by the visitors' Bartley.

A free-kick found Bournemouth substitute Alan Connell who held it up for the incoming Robinson to drive a good chance of an equaliser wide.

Marlon Pack became Daggers' second booking, cautioned for bringing down Pitman as the visitors broke out from a Daggers corner.

Jon Nurse replaced Green with seven minutes left and immediately set up Scott whose attempt deflected to Montgomery but his low shot was safely saved on the line by Jalal with three minutes left.

In the final minute Pack found Scott with a fine ball and twice the forward drove shots goalward only for Jalal to body twice with brave saves as Daggers tried to double their advantage.

But a solitary goal had to suffice, but nevertheless, it was a notable scalp for Daggers and a morale-boosting win for John Still's side.
