Dagenham and Redbridge have given themselves a chance of sneaking into the League Two play-offs after completing the double against Aldershot Town at the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Stadium.
Both Glen Southam and Paul Benson returned to John Still's starting line up as the Daggers looked to secure a second home successive home victory.
Maybe the two fresh faces helped the Daggers make a bright start and they were unlucky not to be in the lead in the opening couple of minutes.
The first opportunity came after two minutes. Ben Strevens teed up Sam Saunders who, leaning back, fired the ball well over the bar.
Strevens was involved in the next attack after being found by Benson. However Strevens got the ball tangled up in his feet and Aldershot keeper Nikki Bull was able to claim the ball.
It was however the visitors who took an early lead with their first shot of the game. And what a shot it was as yet again the Daggers suffered from an outstanding strike. Danny Hylton lined up a shot from twenty yards that never left the top corner handing the Shots the advantage.
Hylton and his strike partner Jake Robinson were proving a handful for the home defence. Tony Roberts had to smother another opportunity from the goalscorer while Robinson dragged a shot wide when well placed inside the Daggers penalty area.
The Daggers persistence was rewarded with an equaliser five minutes before the break. The goal came from a super volley by Matt Ritchie that struck a post and typically Benson was in the right place at the right time to head home the rebound.
The Daggers had to survive a scare at the start of the second half. They pushed up from an Aldershot free-kick with the exception of Benson. That left Robinson onside and as he attempted to poke the ball past Roberts, Benson was on hand to rescue his side and make the clearance.
Benson was in his more accustomed position inside the Aldershot penalty area and only frantic defending from the visitors prevented him from converting a Strevens centre.
Roberts had to claim a dangerous goal mouth scramble while Ritchie struck a free-kick straight at Bull before the Daggers started to take control of the game just after the hour mark.
They benefited from a decision made by the referee's assistant who spotted that Scott Davies had handled a Saunders corner inside the penalty area. Saunders took the responsibility of taking the spot-kick and he despatched it superbly by he rammed the ball into the roof of the net.
The momentum was all with the home side and they went on to score a third just five minutes later. Southam drilled a shot that was parried by Bull. Ritchie was there to pounce and bury the loose ball with a fine finish.
That was pretty much the end of the action and the visitors never really threatened a comeback apart from when Robinson latched onto a weak header from Magnus Okuonghae. Roberts however made the save and the points stayed with the Daggers.
