Despite a penalty save from Ed Thompson, the Daggers succumbed to a late Morecambe winner at Christie Park. The visitors may well have felt hard done by as their performance merited a point against their play-off chasing opponents.

Thompson marked his first league start for the Daggers with a fine penalty save on 71 minutes. Jon Boardman conceded the spot-kick with a challenge inside the area that was punished by the referee. Carl Baker took the kick, but Thompson guessed right and pushed the ball away to safety.

Thompson's good work was undone deep into added time however, as Morecambe continued their recent good run with a late winner. Wayne Curtis provided a terrific cross that allowed Matt Blinkhorn to score at the far post.

Both Stewart Drummond and Blinkhorn had chances to score earlier for Morecambe, but the Daggers had opportunities of their own and Ben Strevens missed a great chance to open the scoring on 74 minutes. Ten minutes beforehand Shane Huke saw a diving header go over the bar.

Dagenham's last chance fell to sub Jamie Taylor who forced Morecambe keeper Shwan Jalal to make a decent save. That save was particularly important to the Shrimps who went on to celebrate Blinkhorn's winner in injury time.
