It was another battling performance from John Still's men but ultimately the Daggers manager will be frustrated at seeing his side go down to a single goal defeat at the Spotland Stadium.

The game itself wasn't the most exciting of affairs, and although the home team dominated possession throughout, the Daggers defence which was missing their captain Anwar Uddin managed to keep Rochdale at bay. Indeed Tony Roberts wasn't tested too often as both Jon Boardman and Ross Smith produced solid displays at the heart of the back four.

However it was a Dagenham defender who had the decisive touch that settled this League Two encounter. Rochdale had started the second half brightly and scored after Adam Rundle had produced a dangerous cross into the Daggers area. Danny Foster got to the cross but in an attempt to clear the danger, the full-back inadvertently placed the ball past Roberts for the only goal of the game.

The Daggers did have the ball in the Rochdale net in the first half, Jon Boardman scoring from a corner, only for his effort to be ruled out for what appeared to be a push. Both Sam Sloma and Paul Benson had chances to rescue a point for the visitors at the end, but neither could score while Tony Roberts made a save right at the end to prevent Dave Perkins from adding further salt in Daggers wounds.
