Dagenham and Redbridge battled their way to a hard earned point at Christie Park to maintain their lead at the top of the Conference table to three points. Paul Benson rescued a draw for the Daggers; his goal on 72 minutes cancelled out Garry Thompson's first half effort.

It was hardly a fluent performance from John Still's men and they were faced with a barrage of Morecambe pressure in the early stages of the game. Anwar Uddin's block prevented Wayne Curtis from scoring in the opening seconds while Michael Twiss headed straight at Tony Roberts. Uddin once again had to demonstrate his defensive skills in preventing Ged Brannan from scoring while Jim Bentley's header from a Twiss cross, saw the ball land inches wide of the goal.

Dagenham's first real foray into the opposition half came from Sam Sloma; his shot from twenty yards drifted wide of the left hand post. However, Morecambe's pressure eventually paid dividends with Garry Thompson slotting home from fifteen yards to give the home side the lead.

Roberts produced an excellent save to ensure the deficit remained at one. The Daggers keeper did very well to keep out Thompson who looked certain to score from close range. The save seemed to galvanise the Daggers who then themselves embarked on a spell of pressure midway through the second half. After Glen Southam went close, Benson found the back of the net to level the scores. Sam Saunders's corner was only cleared to Southam, and although the midfielder's shot was blocked, Benson was hand to squeeze the ball into the corner of the net.

The momentum appeared to be with the Daggers. Benson shot wide while Saunders forced Steven Drench into making a good save with a shot from twenty yards. However, Dagenham weren't able to find the back of the net and neither were Morecambe. Their last real chance came when Thompson headed a Twiss cross inches over the bar.
