Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club announce that striker Dwight Gayle will be joining Peterborough United on a permanent basis when the transfer window opens in just over a week.
Dwight joined Peterborough on loan at the end of November and has scored five goals in the four games he has played for the London Road side.
The initialagreement between the two sides meant that Peterborough United would sign the former Arsenal youngster but he was to return to the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham Stadium on January 2nd and spend the remainder of this season on loan with the Daggers.
However, things have moved along, and, after negotiations between the two clubs, an agreement has been reached which will see Dwight join the Posh on a permanent basis from January.
The deal will mean that the Daggers will break our record transfer fee received and will now receive a guaranteed minimum of £470,000 with the possibility that figure may rise to £700,000 with add-ons. There is also a substantial sell on clause if Dwight is subsequently sold on.
John Still said “Dwight wasn’t with us for long but he showed a lot of ability and another opportunity has come along for him. The Club had accepted an offer that would see the player come back in January but that offer has been improved and the club felt that financially it was the right thing to do. I believe Dwight has a terrific future and as sad as I am to see him go, I wish him the best of luck”.
Everyone at Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club would like to thank Dwight for his time with the Daggers and wish him every success in the future.
