Dagenham & Redbridge football club confirm the loan of striker Dwight Gayle to Peterborough United until 2nd January 2013.

Peterborough are one of a number of clubs interested in Gayle who has already scored seven goals in 20 games for the Daggers.

The diminutive striker scored 42 goals in all competitions last season whilst on loan at Bishops Stortford and the previous season won the Essex Senior League golden boot scoring 57 goals for them.

Daggers manager John Still said, “Dwight is a player who we believe still needs developing but we don’t want to hold him back.“With that in mind we didn’t feel we should sell him this season and have instead done a deal where he can experience football at a higher level then return to the club in January.

“We had a lot of offers for Dwight but Peterborough United were the only club who met those terms and he will go to London Road until January the 2ndbefore returning to us to continue that development.”
