Dagenham & Redbridge FC have signed AFC Bournemouth attacking midfielder Josh Wakefield on a one month’s loan.
The 18-year old came through an apprenticeship at the Cherries and signed his first professional contract in April 2012. He made his first team debut later that month as a second half substitute in the 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe United.
Daggers Manager John Still commented, “Josh is a player I have watched a few times and when I first saw him I had the Matt Ritchie feeling.
“He was enthusiastic, bright and lively. He can play wide, centre midfield and off a forward. We have been helped by AFC Bournemouth financially and it hasn’t cost us any money to bring him here. I think he will be well received by Daggers supporters because of the enthusiasm he shows”.
Wakefield has also played for local Dorset sides Wimborne Town and Hamworthy United.
