Posted: Fri 15 Aug 2014

Christian Doidge today penned a two-year deal with Dagenham and Redbridge FC, the striker was delighted with the move and the opportunity to play in the Football League.

“I’m really happy and it’s a dream come true really as I’ve always wanted to play in the Football League.

“I got released by Bristol Rovers when I was 15 and played basketball for a bit, but I went back to football as I love the game. I then made my way back up through the Welsh Leagues and ended up at Carmarthen.

“Last season was my first full season in the Welsh Premier so I was really happy to score that many goals in the amount of appearances I made.”

The 21-year-old spent time at the Daggers this pre-season, impressing Manager Wayne Burnett after scoring two goals.

The young striker said the move for him was a simple choice after seeing the boys train and working with them this summer.

“One of the reasons I signed was because of my time here pre-season. The morale was really high and the boys made me feel really welcome so it was a no-brainer really.”
