The 24-year-old attack minded winger signed for the U’s from York during the January transfer window after clocking up 140 appearances for the Minstermen.
Ashley started his career at Leicester City where he became the Championship club’s youngest ever first team player aged just 15 against Blackpool in 2005.
Whilst at Leicester, Ashley had loan spells with Wycombe Wanderers, Grimsby Town and York City who he signed for permanently in November 2010 after his contract at Leicester came to an end.
Ashley notched up 22 goals during his time at Bootham Crescent including the opener in the 2-1 win over Luton Town in the 2012 Conference Play-Off Final at Wembley Stadium and made 18 Sky Bet League Two appearances this season before joining Cambridge in January.
Daggers Manager Wayne Burnett said on the signing: “I’m pleased to have bought Ashley in, he is someone who we hope will enhance the group and help us push on towards the end of the season and I’m looking forward to working with him”.
Ashley goes straight into contention for tomorrow’s squad in the Sky Bet League Two fixture at Exeter City and will wear the shirt number 10.
