Chester 3 Daggers 0
Daggers were unable to maintain their perfect start to the National League, going down 3-0 away to Chester.
Daggers named an unchanged starting line-up for the match at the Deva Stadium, with new signing Paul Benson on the bench.
Despite an first minute effort from Luke Guttridge going wide of the post from 20 yards, it was the hosts who opened the scoring.
Elliot Durrell tried his luck with a volley from 25 yards that flew past Daggers stopper Elliot Justham and into the net in the 12th minute.
The visitors slipped further behind 12 minutes later with another long distance shot, this time from Tom Shaw.
The Chester midfielder held the ball up well before firing a shot away that whistled beyond Justham to double the hosts’ lead.
Jordan Maguire-Drew had a chance to cut the gap for the visitors after winning a free kick in the 38th minute, but fired narrowly wide.
And Oliver Hawkins saw a close range header expertly saved by Blues keeper Liam Roberts with two minutes left in the opening half.
Despite their strong finish to the opening 45 minutes, Daggers fell three goals behind when James Alabi headed in a John Hunt corner in the 59th minute.
With 13 minutes left in the match, Benson came on for his first club appearance in almost six years.
However, the striker was unable to cap his second debut with a goal as the match finished without any further strikes.
Daggers are next in action away to Guiseley on Saturday with a 3pm kick-off for that match.
