A brave display from Dagenham & Redbridge was not enough to beat Wycombe Wanderers, as they went down 2-1.
Daggers made just one change, with Jodi Jones
replacing Ashley Chambers
in midfield while Luke Guttridge and Dom Hyam made their home debuts.
The opening 15 minutes lacked action, but Ashley Hemmings
did test the visiting defence with two teasing crosses.
was fouled around 25 yards out in the 23rd minute, but Jones’ resulting free kick was saved by away keeper Ryan Allsop.
Despite growing into the game, Daggers were dealt a blow when Josh Passley
was sent off in the 31st minute after dragging down Garry Thompson as the last man.
That left the hosts on the back foot somewhat, but Mark Cousins
showed good agility to close down Wycombe striker Paul Hayes when through on goal in the 35th minute.
But Hayes got the better of Cousins on the stroke of half time to open the scoring, turning in Paris Cowan-Hall’s ball across the goal
At half time, Oliver Hawkins and Frankie Raymond
came on for the hosts and the striker almost announced himself in fine style.
Hawkins fired a half volley from 18 yards at Allsop, but the keeper was well behind the effort.
Wycombe also had a man sent off as Thompson was dismissed 15 minutes into the second half for a foul on Joss Labadie
And Daggers had parity on the scoreline 12 minutes later when Guttridge tapped in from close range.
But just two minutes later, they were behind again as Cowan-Hall headed Wycombe in front.
went close to an equaliser in the 78th minute, heading Justin Hoyte’s cross against the post.
