Morecambe 1 Daggers 0

Daggers slipped to a first defeat in four matches against Morecambe as they lost 1-0 at the Globe Arena.

The visitors to the Globe Arena made two changes with Liam O’Brien and Ashley Chambers returning to the starting XI.
O’Brien and Chambers spent Saturday’s draw at home to Plymouth Argyle on the bench and replaced Mark Cousins and Jodi Jones respectively.
Daggers missed a good chance to take the lead in the 12th minute when Ashley Hemmings’ cross-shot from the left eluded Jamie Cureton at the far post.
A minute later and Morecambe nearly went ahead, but Tom Barkhuizen put his shot wide of the post after a good counter attack.

Daggers had Jack Connors to thank for keeping the scores level in the 27th minute as he cleared an Aaron Wildig shot from distance off the line.

Josh Passley conceded a penalty three minutes later after he fouled Shaun Beeley in the box following a good run by the Shrimps player.
Liam O’Brien stopped Paul Mullin’s penalty, but the ball fell kindly for the striker who scored the rebound.
Hemmings narrowly failed to connect with a Joss Labadie cross from the right in the 36th minute when any touch would have resulted in a goal.
Labadie himself went close two minutes later when he shot just wide with a long range effort from 35 yards, but Daggers went in behind.
The visitors began the second half well when Connors hit the bar with a cross in the 50th minute.
Connors then produced another goalline clearance in the 60th minute from a corner to prevent Morecambe from doubling their lead.
Daggers were being put under considerable pressure by Morecambe with O’Brien saving Anton Forrester’s curling effort three minutes later.
The visiting stopper was called upon again to perform heroics as he got down well to save an acrobatic effort from Kevin Ellison in the 77th minute.
Daggers were unable to find an equaliser in the closing minutes and will hope for better against Whitehawk in the FA Cup on Sunday.
