Dagenham & Redbridge ensured they are still unbeaten at home in the FA Cup since winning promotion to the Football League with a 0-0 draw against Morecambe.
After joining on loan from Peterborough United on Friday, Kyle Vassell made his first start for his new club.
There was also a place in the XI for Mark Cousins
who hadn’t started a game since August 18.
looked to be in for the hosts in the 19th minute when pouncing on a poor clearance but was beaten to the ball by Shrimps’ stopper Barry Roche.
The next chance for the hosts came 11 minutes later when Jake Mulraney forced his countryman Roche to push a stinging effort wide for a corner.
Cousins had a nervous moment in goal in the 44th minute when his clearance smacked Morecambe striker Tom Barkhuizen in the face and went wide.
The hosts went close to taking the lead in the 55th minute when Ashley Hemmings
played the ball across goal but there was no one present to turn it in.
Cousins was called into action in the 60th minute, getting well to prevent Barkhuizen opening the scoring with a header.
Daggers went close to opening the scoring 12 minutes later through an unlikely source.
Justin Hoyte broke forward from right back and played a neat one-two with Vassell before shooting from just inside the box with his effort saved by Roche.
Neither side could find a goal, forcing the need for a replay to take place at Morecambe’s Globe Arena.
