Daggers 3 Crawley Town 0

Christian Doidge’s brace, in the space of two minutes, made the difference in the second half, with Ashley Hemmings scoring the third giving the Daggers a comfortable 3-0 victory over Crawley Town.

John Still decided to make three changes to his side, for the last home game of the season. Jimmy Shepard, who made his debut for the Daggers, replaced Josh Passley. Jamie Cureton, was given the armband and came in for Matt McClure. Lastly Joe Widdowson was replaced by Ashley Hemmings.

Both teams looked to get a quick goal in the opening minutes of the game, Oliver Muldoon came very close, winning the ball just outside the area, but his shot was blocked by a Crawley defender.

Mark Cousins did very well to deny a close ranged volleyed effort from Lee Bernard in the 35th minute.

The game completely changed in the second half, Doidge and Cureton showed great partnership for the first goal of the game, it was Doidge who finally put it past Callum Preston.

Three minutes later Doidge got the brace as he hit the ball on the half volley from outside the box, Preston left it thinking that it was going wide, but it ended up curling into the back of the net.

Muldoon tested the keeper from 20 yards out with a low powerful shot, Preston did well to get hands on it and push it out for a corner.

The first 15 minutes of the game was all going the Daggers’ way, a poor goal kick was turned into a through ball by Cash, which found Cureton, out pacing the Crawley’s defence, but the shot just missed the far right.

Shamir Fenelon’s run in the 65th minute nearly brought one back for the visitors, but his shot ended up going past the face of the goal.

Matt McClure came on for the captain Jamie Cureton in the 71st minute. Cousins went on to produce a brilliant save to prevent Barnard from scoring again.

80th minute and Hemmings went on to make it three for the Daggers, straight after Still made a second substation bringing on Hawkins for Jimmy Shepard.
With this victory the Daggers moved up to 23rd place, one point ahead of York.
