Daggers 0 AFC Wimbledon 2

Dagenham and Redbridge were defeated by Lyle Taylor’s brace, which was enough for AFC Wimbledon to take home the three points.

The Daggers made two changes to the side from last week’s defeat at Leyton Orient which saw the Daggers being officially relegated from the football league. Quade Taylor and Luke Pennell came into the line-up for Dominic Hyam and Justin Hoyte.

The home side nearly suffered conceding an early goal in the opening seconds of the game, after a mistake in defence which Lyle Taylor was unable to convert.

AFC Wimbledon had to make an early substitution, Jonathon Meades had to come off for Callum Kennedy due to injury.

Jamie Cureton came very close to scoring from the centre of the goal, his shot was blocked by Paul Robinson.

It was the Daggers this time who were forced to make a change within 20 minutes as Matt Richards went down injured, Andre Boucaud came on to replace him.

Ashley Hemmings went down in the penalty area and nothing was given, Christian Doidge picked up the ball and crossed it across goal for Curetron, who had his shot blocked off the line.

Lyle Taylor showed good skill to play Sean Rigg down the line who returned the ball back to Taylor, shooting it first time and finding the back of the net in the 33rd minute.

Matty Cash showed great skill and shot from 20 yards out, which ended up being deflected out for a corner, just before half time.

There was a substitution at the start of the second half, with Joss Labadie coming off for Frankie Raymond.

Doidge had a shot which found Cureton, who had yet another shot blocked after a scramble inside the penalty box, it then ended up getting cleared away by the Dons’ defence.

Lyle Taylor nearly added to his tally, but Cousins made a great save catching the shot which was curling into the top right hand corner of the goal.

The striker then extended the lead in the 61st minute, showing good feet to shrivel past the defence and shot from 16 yards out, making it his 20th of the season.

Christian Doidge was replaced in the 75th minute by Oliver Hawkins, who made his 11th appearance as a substitute.

Second half Substitution, Adebayo Azeez tested the best out of Mark Cousins, as the shot was hit from six yards out.

Lyle Tayloy came very close to getting a hattrick after the ball fell to his feet, Clevid Dikamona did well to put his body on the line.

Cureton then came close to snatching one goal near the end of the match, but Kelle Roos did well to put it round his post.

Azeez came very close to making it three in the last minute of the match for the visitors, after he saw his shot being saved once again by Cousins.
