Daggers 1 Portsmouth 4

Ashley Hemmings’s speculative first half goal was not enough for the Daggers, as Portsmouth were able to come back in the second half by scoring four goals.

Kyle Bennett was key for the visitors, he assisted two from set pieces and scored one, Michael Doyle, Christian Burgess and Gareth Evans also got their name on the score sheet.

John Still made two changes to his side, despite the home victory against Morecambe. Clevid Dikamona and Josh Passley came in for Joe Worrall and Jamie Cureton.

It was a quite start at Victoria Road, only two chances within the first 20 minutes both coming from the Pompey’s Adam McGurk and Kyle Bennett.

Danny Hollands managed to volley a powerful shot from outside the box, which ended up rising over the goal of Mark Cousins.

Passley crossed it in for Doidge, who knocked it in front of him for Matty Cash tested the keeper with a close range header.

Moments later Cash had his back heel effort saved by the keeper, it was Doidge again providing the pass.

The momentum was really in favour for the Daggers Ashley Hemmings decided to go for the spectacular, and scored an overhead kick from 20 yards out in the 34th minute.

It looked like the Daggers were going to extend the lead straight away with Passley whipping the ball in for Justin Hoyte, Paul Jones watched the ball just go over his goal.

The visitors tried to get the equaliser just before half time, Michael Smith decided to curl one from out wide, the shot ended up going across the face of the goal and out for a goal kick.

Seven minutes into the second half and the Daggers broke, but Passley's through ball to Hemmings was hit too hard and the attack broke down.

The visitors got the equaliser in the 59th minute; it was Gary Roberts’s ball into the box which found Michael Doyle running into the centre of the box, volleying it past Cousins.

Dagenham tried to react quickly, the ball fell for Muldoon outside the box after a scramble inside the box, but his shot ended up being an easy catch for the keeper.

Christian Doidge came back to defend and conceded a free kick on the edge of the penalty box, Kyle Bennett then put the ball in from the set piece and found the head of Christian Burgess, which gave the visitors the lead.

John Still made his first change as he brought on last games goal scorer Jamie Cureton in for Muldoon.

Cousins saved the Daggers from conceding more, after he produced two consecutive saves in the 72nd minute. This was followed by another two changes to the Daggers side; Cash came off for Andre Boucaud and Passley for Oliver Hawkins.

The game was over for the Daggers as in 85th minute, Portsmouth scored again from a set piece as Bennett got himself another assist, whipping in the free kick, finding the head of, second half substitution, Gareth Evans.

Three minutes later and the game was far from over as the visitors made it 4-1, Bennett dribbled his way into the centre of the box and put it past the Daggers keeper.

The Daggers will travel on Tuesday to Luton Town, who currently sit in 15th place.
