Michael Coulson netted a late equaliser to earn the Minstermen a draw against the Daggers in a game which Wayne Burnett’s side had plenty of opportunities to finish the game off.
The Daggers had earlier cancelled out Vadaine Oliver’s goal with two very well taken finishes from Ashley Hemmings
and Jamie Cureton
. However Coulson’s superb leveller with just over 10 minutes remaining saw the game ending at 2 goals apiece.
The Daggers had many early opportunities. Cureton was the first to go close with a spectacular low volley just going wide.
The visitors then had two long range shots from Chambers and Hoyte which tested the York Keeper.
York nearly got the first goal as an unfortunate deflection off Nosworthy fell to Oliver who couldn’t capitalise on the surprise of a ball at his feet.
However moments later a scuffed shot fell to Oliver who hit the ball into the net for the first goal of the game.
Dagenham gained a deserved equaliser when York were caught on the counter-attack. Jamie Cureton
battled the ball brilliantly off one of the centre backs and released Hemmings, who blasted a low shot inside Scott Flinders’s near post.
Josh Pask went on a strong run towards the end of the first half which ended up in a drilled shot just going wide of the upright.
Cureton put the visitors ahead in the 56th minute when a long ball fell to his feet and he did a one two with Hemmings before poking the ball into the net.
Ferdinand then had a great chance to see the game off as he leaped like a salmon but he couldn’t find the power to head the ball past Flinders.
The game started getting more opening with chances in quick succession for the Daggers and York, before a superb 20 yard curled effort from Coulson was just too far out of reach for O’Brien, and with that the score was 2-2.
