Manager Wayne Burnett made four changes for the tie, with Jack Connors
, Clevid Dikamona
, Matt McClure
and Jodi Jones
But after a dull opening 34 minutes, it was the Magpies who took the lead through Adam Campbell who coolly slotted home.
Daggers, though, came out a lot better after half time and went close through Ayo Obileye
in the 56th minute.
The defender stepped up to take a free kick 25 yards out which cannoned into the wall before he fired a half volley towards goals.
kept the hosts in the match with a brilliant save at close range to prevent Campbell from scoring a second in the 71st minute.
It would prove an important save as less than a minute later, Jones had levelled things up.
Jones cut in from the right, taking two defenders out of play, before curling the ball into the top left corner.
then tripped Jack Barmby in the box to hand County a penalty with just under 15 minutes to go.
But O'Brien was in no mood to let the visitors take the lead again, diving to his right to stop Izael McLeod's spot kick.
The two teams went close to scoring winners, with Ashley Chambers
and Jon Stead both hitting the woodwork, but the match ended level.
