Newport 2 Daggers 3

Christian Doidge’s strike against his hometown club helped Dagenham & Redbridge beat Newport County 3-2.

Frankie Raymond made his debut for the Daggers and replaced Billy Bingham in the line-up, the only change from Tuesday’s draw with Luton.
Jamie Cureton had the best chance of the opening half for the Victoria Road club when Luke Howell found him on the edge of the area.
However the veteran striker could only fire his effort wide of the goal, rattling the side netting on its way through in the eighth minute.
There was a worry for the visitors 14 minutes later when Luke Howell was forced off with a hamstring injury and was replaced by Alex Jakubiak.
With the score 0-0 Mark Cousins kept the Londoners in the game in the 56th minute, pushing Aaron O’Connor’s effort from close range onto the bar.
He was forced into action again 10 minutes later this time denying Regan Poole who aimed his volley at goal.
With 12 minutes remaining Ashley Hemmings was fouled after a run down the left and the Daggers were awarded a free-kick.
Andre Boucard found Hemmings with the subsequent delivery and the midfielder headed the visitors in front.
Three minutes later a great run from Jakubiak set up Doidge to slot home from close range.
And the visitors were three up with with just two minutes remaining when another brilliant run from Jakubiak resulted in a goal for the young striker.
The Exiles did strike back twice in the dying moments through David Tutonda and O’Connor but it proved too little too late as the Daggers took the three points back down the M4.
