Daggers were unable to prevent Chesterfield’s promotion push from gathering further momentum as Eoin Doyle’s first half strike sealed success for the Spireites.
Boss Wayne Burnett made four changes from the side that won 1-0 at Torquay with skipper Abu Ogogo
rested, while Jordan Seabright
was also handed only his second start of the season in his bid to earn a new contract at the club.
Brentford loanee Luke Norris went close for the hosts after just three minutes as he flashed a volley into the side netting.
But chances were few and far between throughout the match, though it was the hosts goal that was in the most danger.
Tendayi Darikwa proved a real threat for the majority of the match and it was his cross that Doyle forced past Seabright for his 13th goal of the season.
Darikwa was again in the action in the early stages of the second half as he went on a marauding run from just inside the Daggers half.
He eventually teed up Dan Kearns, but his shot was saved by Seabright.
Marc Richards was the next to go close as he stretched out to reach a cross, but he directed it just wide of the target.
Seabright proved to be the Daggers hero later in the half as he pulled off a fine save to deny Kearns, and the hosts broke away from the keeper’s save.
The ball found its way out to Medy Elito
, and his ball in found Norris unmarked at the back post but he headed it wide from close range.
Richards again had a chance to seal the when butfired over after Ian Gayle
lost possession just outside the box.
Daggers tried to get a way back into the game, but were met by a stubborn Spireites defence, and despite Sean Shields
, Afolabi Obafemi
and Luke Howell
coming off the bench, they failed to have the desired impact.
