The Daggers stretched their unbeaten run to five at Victoria Road after a speculative goal from Afolabi Obafemi
and a smart Rhys Murphy
finish led them to a relatively comfortable 2-1 win over Bury.
The first half was of little quality in truth with Bury perhaps edging it, though it was the Daggers who went into the break in the lead after scoring on the stroke of halftime.
A long ball downfield from Gavin Hoyte
saw Afolabi Obafemi
out-muscle and then out-pace Bury left back Gareth Roberts and the winger cut in from the left to place a curling shot past Trevor Carson whose first action of the game was to pick the ball out of the net.
Bury created the better chances in the first period but two tame headers from Craig Jones and a Jessy Reindorf attempt that looped harmessly over the bar was the best that the visitors could muster.
The Daggers started the second half how they ended the first - with a goal. Captain Abu Ogogo
drove forward from centre midfield and played a defence splitting pass into the path of Rhys Murphy
who slotted the ball home in the 52nd minute from the edge of the box to grab his second goal in two games.
And moments later there was almost a thrid for the Daggers side who were now in complete control. Zavon Hines
whipped a vicious freekick into the box that found the unmarked Rhys Murphy
but his flicked header was tipped round the post by Shakers stopper Trevor Carson.
The home side were in complete control until the latter stages as they limited the visitors to only long range attempt that Chris Lewington
easily dealt with. It wasn't until the 88th minute that Bury finally pulled one back as Anton Robinson converted from the spot after the impressive Billy Bingham
unfortunately saw the ball strike his hand in the box.
This sparked a Bury onslaught late on as they bombarded the box. Subsitute Jordan Sinnott, who certainly improved the lacklustre Shakers midfield, saw his deflected freekick go just over the bar and another drive was beaten away by Lewington. There was still time for one more moment for Bury to grab a late, late equaliser but Gareth Roberts shot clipped the outside of the post.
