The Daggers suffered a defeat away at Fleetwood on their first match of the new season.
It proved to be a bad first day of the office for the Daggers as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Fleetwood Town.
Wayne Burnett’s side got off to the worst possible start as they conceded twice in the opening 10 minutes and though they showed some good signs, were ultimately made to pay from set pieces.
Home skipper Mark Roberts opened up his and Fleetwood’s account after six minutes when he headed past Chris Lewington
from Ryan Crowther’s corner.
And their problems doubled four minutes later as Jeff Hughes struck from all of 25 yards past the outstretched hands of Lewington.
Daggers rode the early storm and did come back into the match, and Rhys Murphy
notched his first for the club when tapping in Medy Elito
’s ball in after 26 minutes.
Another set piece proved their undoing in the second half though as Ryan Cresswell rose highest to apply the finish to another Crowther corner after 56 minutes.
Jake Reed and Afolabi Obafemi
produced some renewed vigour when coming off the bench with the former forcing home goalkeeper Scott Davies to push past the post.
And late on Scott Doe
did well to deny home substitute Gareth Evans and Fleetwood a fourth from another inswinging corner.
