The Daggers had to settle for a second successive home draw in a space of a week as they were held to a 0-0 draw with Aldershot Town.
Daggers remained unchanged for fourth game in succession and despite a slow start they had the first opportunity when Dwight Gayle had a shot blocked by goalkeeper Jamie Young behind for a corner.
From that resultant dead ball by Matthew Saunders, Luke Wilkinson was left unmarked but his header ended up straight at Young.
The first half lacked much creation from either side, Saunders had the best chance of the game as he lobbed the Shots goalkeeper from 25 yards out but his strike struck the bar.
Shots midfielder Adam Mekki tested Lewington with a goal bound free kick with only a minute of the first half left to play.
The Second half heated up with both sides eager to get the winning goal. The best chance fell into the path of Danny Hylton who was one-on-one with Lewington, however he failed to hit the target and the ball trickled past the post.
There was half chances for both sides after that but neither side could break down the defence. Kevin Maher, Dominic Green and Brian Woodall came on for the Daggers but couldn’t break down the Aldershot defence.
The Shots looked as though they was going to win it when Rankine broke free, his shot was excellently saved by Lewington to ensure his clean sheet stayed intact.
